Strong-Wall® Shearwalls Featured in An Art Exhibit 

Back in August 2019, Los Angeles– and Berlin-centered artist Tekena Koko staged an exhibition at his Los Angeles studio showcasing an installation of Simpson Solid-Tie Potent –Wall shearwalls.  

The artwork exhibition was termed Really Value Engineered (HVE) and bundled several of our Steel Strong-Wall Shearwalls®, together with a stack of connectors.  

The HVE venture sought to spotlight the elusive or fleeting natural beauty of construction readymades positioned involving the intersection of architecture, development and artwork.

The objects have been exhibited to architects, designers and fabricators at Tekena Koko’s studioko. Tekena is a Los Angeles–based artist and educator. Listed here is how he explained the motivations behind his installation:  

The selection of objects in Really Price Engineered occupy the room involving architecture, sculpture, and decoration. The project emerged from an obsession around a unsuccessful foyer remodel overburdened by value engineering (VE), the formal term for “cost- cutting” in the AEC (Architecture Engineering and Building) market. In construing cheapness to include mass-developed construction readymades, the project speculates on the viability of architecture within an arena of frugality and minimum signifies. These estranged readymades undergo dissident methods that override technical use-value in place of in search of an elusive attractiveness and other immaterial peculiarities they might have. 

The artist hopes to stir your creativeness with this show of lateral shear walls and connectors. From melancholic introspection to a perception of spatial absence, the display screen invites as many responses and interpretations as there are viewers. Appreciate the installation photographs beneath.
